Legal Counsel, Export Control

📋 Description

• Own Helsing's US export control compliance program, with primary focus on ITAR/EAR classifications
• Advise on cross-border technology transfer and cross-border collaboration with European teams
• Support US Government contracting efforts, including defense primes and commercial partners
• Design and implement compliance frameworks with engineering and business teams
• Advise on OFAC sanctions considerations and regulatory changes impacting Helsing
• Help build Helsing's US legal infrastructure as the entity scales

🎯 Requirements

• US bar admission (DC/VA/MD/WV) and JD from an accredited US law school
• Meaningful in-house or law-firm experience with ITAR and EAR, USML/CCL classifications, and
• Familiarity with FAR/DFARS, government contracting frameworks, and DDTC/BIS interactions
• Ability to draft and negotiate government/defense contracts and tech transfer agreements
• Strong knowledge of OFAC, sanctions, and export control risk management
• Proven ability to work with engineering/product teams in a fast-moving environment
