Yard Hostler Driver

📋 Description

• Move semi-trailers, shipping containers, and straight trucks within yard or dock areas.
• Spot trailers at loading docks, staging areas, and parking stalls without driving on public
• Shunt trailers using terminal tractors and manage trailer legs with hydraulic controls.
• Log trailer movements using onboard systems or dockyard software.
• Coordinate with warehouse and logistics staff to align with loading schedules.
• Perform general maintenance and keep yard safe and organized.

🎯 Requirements

• Driver’s License with clean record; pass MVR background screen.
• 2+ years of yard hostler/yard goat or yard equipment experience preferred.
• Experience repositioning/hauling international and/or domestic containers.
• Strong spatial/mirror-backing skills for tight spaces.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations: hours of service, inspections, safety.
• Basic reading/writing and arithmetic; able to use handheld devices.
