Senior Backend Engineer (Ruby on Rails), Plan: Planning Views

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Product to shape requirements and break projects into shippable iterations.
• Design and implement backend features across the GitLab monolith, including GraphQL and REST APIs
• Improve PostgreSQL performance at scale via query/write optimization, denormalization, and
• Contribute to real-time features that keep work item information current as it changes.
• Create proofs of concept for complex work and ensure quality through testing and safe feature
• Mentor engineers and open source contributors through code reviews, pairing, and reviews.

🎯 Requirements

• A strong product mindset focused on user needs and trade-offs between product managers and users.
• Experience leading and supporting engineers, driving multi-month projects, and mentoring others.
• Full stack experience with emphasis on backend, including Ruby and Ruby on Rails in a large
• Strong PostgreSQL skills and experience optimizing performance at scale (queries, writes, indexing
• Experience designing/evolving GraphQL and/or REST APIs with scalability and stable contracts for
• Experience improving large automated test suites for performance and reliability.
