Principal Software Engineer - Performance Tuning - Elasticsearch

📋 Description

• Lead architecture and code-level performance initiatives for Elasticsearch.
• Own performance engineering from design to production.
• Profile and optimize logging, metrics, vector search, and ES|QL.
• Build robust benchmarks and detect regressions in stateful/serverless setups.
• Embed performance-first thinking into new features across teams.
• Drive automation for profiling, hypothesis testing, and benchmarking.

🎯 Requirements

• Deep knowledge of Java internals and JVM memory management.
• Experience profiling and optimizing distributed systems with tools (flamegraphs, JMH, Rally).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, partition tolerance, and scaling in large stores.
• Proven track record using AI/advanced tooling to accelerate optimization.
• Ability to collaborate across functions and work autonomously.
