- Owning core performance initiatives from architecture to production
- Leading design, plan and execution for major optimizations
- Developing performance models for complex distributed systems
- Driving optimization to keep Elasticsearch performant, predictable and scalable
- Profiling and analyzing system behavior to identify bottlenecks
- Ensuring robust benchmarks and regression detection for stateful/stateless systems
🎯 Requirements
- Deep knowledge of Java internals, JVM memory management, and thread-safe code
- Proven profiling/optimizing distributed systems; benchmarking tools (flamegraphs, JMH, Rally)
- Solid understanding of distributed systems architecture, partition tolerance, and scaling
- Experience using AI/advanced tooling to accelerate optimization and automate benchmarking
- Ability to collaborate across functions and transition between projects as priorities shift
- Autonomous, decisive, transparent communicator enabling distributed teamwork
