Software Engineer - Application Platform

📋 Description

• Design and evolve shared Ruby frameworks for REST APIs, asynchronous jobs, workflow orchestration
• Improve availability, reliability, scalability, and performance of backend systems
• Modernize large Ruby codebase from Sinatra toward Rails with stronger endpoint abstractions and
• Enhance hot reloading, local workflows, test infra, CI reliability, and debugging tools
• Strengthen scalability, isolation, observability, and recovery of Figma’s async job platform
• Collaborate with product engineers and Infrastructure teams to turn pain points into reusable

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering
• 3+ years building production Ruby systems
• Experience with large Ruby applications and shared backend codebases
• Design reliable distributed systems at production scale (APIs, background processing, testing
• Ability to improve complex systems via architecture, modularization, migrations, and tooling
