Job Description
📋 Description
- Assist deaf or hard-of-hearing students by interpreting spoken material into sign language
- Facilitate peer communication
- Help students access the curriculum, daily routines and school activities
- Manage classroom behaviors
- Report behavioral concerns to appropriate staff
- Implement and maintain behavioral program policies and data
🎯 Requirements
- ASL American Sign Language proficiency required
- Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) OR National Interpreter Certification (NIC) preferred
- Experience with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Community required
- Fluency in ASL and signed English and strong communication skills required
- Must be flexible in the ability to support multiple grade levels as student populations change
- Ability to work with youth with emotional/behavioral/academic difficulties
