📋 Description

• Lead initiatives within Elasticsearch to produce an industry-leading vector database offering.
• Contribute to Elasticsearch full time, building new search features and fixing bugs.
• Collaborate with a globally distributed team focused on vector search capabilities.
• Be the expert on how Elasticsearch implements vector similarity to improve search relevance.

• Write idiomatic modern Java; Elasticsearch is 99.8% Java.

🎯 Requirements

• Vector similarity experience with vector databases; familiarity with HNSW, IVF, or similar
• Strong core Java skills and knowledge of standard data structures and concurrency; familiarity with
• Ability to own projects from design through delivery and work with others to build components.
• Experience collaborating over the internet; asynchronous collaboration is a bonus.
• Experience with data storage technologies (e.g., Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB
• Excellent verbal and written communication; able to collaborate respectfully and effectively online.
