Staff Software Engineer, Compute Platform (Routing)

📋 Description

• Own routing infrastructure directing app traffic to Kubernetes backends at scale.
• Build atop Envoy proxies, Istio gateways, Ambient mesh, and SPIFFE authentication.
• Improve latency, reliability, and performance of routing across Coinbase production.
• Enhance paved-road developer experience with AI-driven tooling and processes.
• Collaborate with Security, Reliability, and Observability teams on platform requirements.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years in software engineering and infrastructure roles.
• 5+ years with routing tech: reverse proxies, ingress, CDN/WAF, service mesh.
• Proficiency in Go, Python, or Java; building production-grade infra services.
• Experience scaling backend infra on AWS; networking, compute, containers.
• Deep CNCF ecosystem knowledge (Kubernetes, Envoy, Istio); production contribution.
• Strong debugging of distributed systems; independent root-cause analysis.

• Pay transparency with base salary range: $218,025 – $256,500 USD
