Systems Engineer, R2 Gateway

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and operate the S3-compatible API gateway for R2 operations.
• Build and operate production services on Cloudflare Workers and Kubernetes for high-throughput
• Own end-to-end request path: authentication, routing, rate limiting, and error handling.
• Lead projects from design to deployment and production monitoring.
• Improve reliability, performance, and observability of the gateway.
• Participate in on-call rotations and drive incident resolution.

🎯 Requirements

• Rust, TypeScript, Go, or similar languages.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems on the request path.
• Familiarity with cloud concepts: object storage, HTTP/API gateways, edge computing, SOA.
• Experience designing high-throughput APIs: auth, routing, rate limiting, API evolution.
• Knowledge of reliability and observability: monitoring, alerting, tuning, incident response.
• Strong communication, ability to coordinate across teams.
