Senior Backend Engineer - Database Change Management

📋 Description

• Lead design/delivery of migration validation and test framework.
• Contribute to a dependency graph migration system for safe upgrades.
• Mentor engineers through pairing, code review, and design feedback.
• Make and document technical decisions asynchronously for multi-timezone teams.
• Review schema migrations for safety, backward compatibility, and reliability.
• Collaborate with Distribution, QA, Database Architecture, and related teams to support deployments.

🎯 Requirements

• Deep experience with Ruby on Rails or comparable migration systems (e.g., Django, Ecto).
• Production PostgreSQL experience, including large table schema changes and load contention handling.
• Track record of delivering a system from design to adoption.
• Experience mentoring engineers through pairing and code reviews.
• Strong written communication for asynchronous, distributed work.
• Judgment balancing reliability, safety, and delivery needs; senior technical presence for
