• Set technical direction for frontend architecture across the Photo group
• Lead complex cross-team frontend initiatives balancing tech & product outcomes
• Raise engineering bar via architecture, performance, mentoring, and standards
• Identify strategic tech opportunities and risks shaping Canva's long-term direction
• Collaborate with senior engineers, ML engineers, PMs, and designers on user experiences
• Represent the Photo group in cross-group architecture discussions

🎯 Requirements

• Extensive experience building & scaling frontend apps with modern JavaScript/TypeScript &
• Led multi-team technical initiatives from ambiguity to delivery
• Deep expertise in rendering performance, large-scale frontend architecture, or platform engineering
• Strong technical judgment and ability to explain decisions to engineers and non-engineers
• Mentored senior engineers and raised engineering standards
• Comfort with ambiguity and turning goals into execution
