Optical Payload Engineer

📋 Description

• Develop, integrate, verify optical payloads for weather observations.
• Translate mission data needs into payload requirements and verification plans.
• Support imaging performance analyses (radiometry, SNR, MTF, image quality).
• Design, characterize, and validate imaging sensors and EO hardware.
• Assess payload performance drivers like aperture, focal length, detector pitch, stray light
• Lifecycle support from design through launch and on-orbit operations.

🎯 Requirements

• 4-7+ years EO/IR, imaging, or electro-optical systems experience.
• Strong imaging fundamentals: radiometry, SNR, MTF, detector behavior.
• Experience with imaging sensors, detectors, optical assemblies, or payload subsystems.
• Knowledge of calibration, validation, and environmental testing for optics.
• Ability to translate goals into clear requirements and verification plans.
• Collaborative with cross-disciplinary teams; proactive ownership.
