Staff Mechanical Engineer - Spacecraft Mechanical Design Technical Lead

📋 Description

• Own the mechanical architecture and design direction for a satellite class, balancing needs of
• Serve as mission mechanical lead for specific missions from requirements through launch vehicle
• Lead design, analysis, and optimization of spacecraft structures, mechanisms, and subsystems
• Iterate satellite class to improve performance, mass, cost, and manufacturability for prototypes to
• Collaborate with customers on requirements, reviews, and proposals; partner with BD for platform
• Define and champion mechanical design standards and best practices across the org

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years designing, building, testing flight hardware in space or related industry
• Experience owning a spacecraft platform or major subsystem across multiple missions
• Proven track record maturing existing designs; not only new development
• Deep competence in structural mechanics, thermal management/modelling, and environmental testing
• Mastery of drawings, GD&T, BOMs, FAIs, tolerances, mass budgets; CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
• Customer-facing experience: technical interchanges, requirements discussions, or proposals
