📋 Description
- Own the mechanical architecture and design direction for a satellite class, balancing needs of
- Serve as mission mechanical lead for specific missions from requirements through launch vehicle
- Lead design, analysis, and optimization of spacecraft structures, mechanisms, and subsystems
- Iterate satellite class to improve performance, mass, cost, and manufacturability for prototypes to
- Collaborate with customers on requirements, reviews, and proposals; partner with BD for platform
- Define and champion mechanical design standards and best practices across the org
🎯 Requirements
- 10+ years designing, building, testing flight hardware in space or related industry
- Experience owning a spacecraft platform or major subsystem across multiple missions
- Proven track record maturing existing designs; not only new development
- Deep competence in structural mechanics, thermal management/modelling, and environmental testing
- Mastery of drawings, GD&T, BOMs, FAIs, tolerances, mass budgets; CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
- Customer-facing experience: technical interchanges, requirements discussions, or proposals
