📋 Description
- Lead the wideband UHF radar instrument for a Mars orbiter from design through spacecraft
- Own instrument performance budgets, link budgets, and SNR analyses for sounder and radiometer modes.
- Co-design with science partners to ensure mission objectives are met; execute significant design
- Coordinate hardware development across RF, digital, power, and mechanical disciplines, including
- Lead instrument qualification, acceptance testing, and on-orbit commissioning activities.
- Collaborate across teams to ensure a robust, mission-ready radar system.
🎯 Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in electrical hardware development (e.g., software-defined radios, radar
- Proven ability to manage radar system performance budgets and analyze radar returns and performance.
- Experience implementing SDR-style transceivers; radar/digital hardware development experience
- Field or spaceflight experience with radio/radar transceivers; hardware design for RF payloads
- Deep expertise in one or more: signal processing chains (FPGA/GPU), mixed-signal PCB design, RF
- Experience with spectrum licensing and frequency coordination; polarimetric radar knowledge a plus.
