Engineering Manager- Application Platform

📋 Description

• Lead the Application Platform pod (8–15 engineers/QA) with a Tech Lead reporting to you; own
• Oversee API gateway and edge concerns: routing, plugins, rate limiting, mTLS, HMAC, and production
• Own authentication and session security: strong customer authentication, re-authentication, device
• Define API standards/governance: standards, enforcement, versioning, identifier schemes, and review
• Ensure secure, predictable reviews: align interface with InfoSec, scoped RFC sign-offs with named
• Remain hands-on: review designs, write and ship code, debug production, and set coding standards

🎯 Requirements

• EM-level scope: 2+ years leading a full team of 5+, with a Tech Lead or senior IC reporting in
• Ability to still write code: design APIs, model schemas, and produce idiomatic, tested code.
• Experience owning a shared platform/gateway/auth system used by internal teams.
• Deep API design, authentication, and distributed-systems failure-mode knowledge (blast radius
• Tracked high-risk production migrations/cutovers with exercised rollback plans.
• Own on-call and incident command personally; collaborate with security/compliance and negotiate
