📋 Description Collaborate with internal partners to define HVAC performance metrics for future vehicles. Establish targets for HVAC energy efficiency through research and benchmarking. Apply design experience to develop practical, low-risk HVAC solutions for various configurations. Drive Waymo’s OEM partners to meet comfort, performance and efficiency targets. Define sign-off requirements and supervise verification with OEMs and Waymo V&V teams. 🎯 Requirements Masters in Mechanical Engineering or similar; 8+ years in automotive engineering with OEM or Tier1. Experience designing electric climate compressor HVAC systems from concept to verification. Proven cabin ventilation system design, vent placement and airflow requirements. Deep thermodynamics knowledge of AC vapor-compression cycles. Expert-level know-how of automotive refrigerants and global regulatory requirements. Ability to set targets and negotiate requirements with OEMs/Tier 1 suppliers. 🎁 Benefits Travel may be required to Waymo partners or test sites. Salary range: $196,000 — $242,000 USD (base, US locations). Discretionary bonus, equity, and benefits program eligibility.
