This is an opportunity to begin your career in a growing, specialist technology consultancy where you will learn directly from experienced engineers while contributing to meaningful, real-world delivery. You will not be one of hundreds of graduates following a generic training programme. You will join a small cohort, receive direct support from senior and principal engineers, and build practical experience across cloud, automation, DevOps, infrastructure, and modern platform engineering. About Appvia Appvia is a self-funded, London-based platform engineering, software, and AI enablement consultancy. We help organisations design, build, and operate modern cloud platforms, improve how software is delivered, and adopt new technologies securely and effectively. Our work spans AWS, Azure, platform engineering, software modernisation, Data & AI, delivery, and managed services. We partner with customers across public and private sectors, including organisations operating in complex and highly regulated environments. Since the start of 2026, Appvia has grown from around 60 to more than 100 people, driven by new customer demand, the launch of new capabilities, and continued investment in our teams. Despite that growth, we remain a close-knit, engineering-led business. Our technical teams are made up predominantly of experienced senior, principal, and leadership-level consultants who enjoy sharing knowledge, solving difficult problems, and helping others develop. As a graduate at Appvia, you will work closely with these engineers rather than being separated into a large junior delivery team. You will be encouraged to ask questions, contribute ideas, challenge established thinking, and take increasing ownership as your confidence and capability grow. The Appvia Academy experience The Appvia Academy will combine structured development with hands-on project experience. Your learning will include: Practical experience working on a live cloud and platform engineering programme Direct mentoring from senior and principal platform engineers Structured technical workshops and learning sessions Engineering show-and-tells and knowledge-sharing sessions Support towards relevant AWS and cloud certifications Access to a personal learning and development budget Regular feedback, coaching, and development conversations A clear but flexible progression pathway within Appvia’s AWS Practice Exposure to wider areas including software engineering, security, data, AI, and technical consulting You will learn by doing, with support around you and increasing responsibility as you progress. About the role As a Graduate Platform Engineer, you will help design, build, support, and improve modern cloud platforms used by engineering teams to deliver software securely and efficiently. Your first project will be within Appvia’s AWS Practice, supporting a new platform engineering programme for a UK public sector customer. Working alongside experienced consultants, you will develop practical skills across AWS, infrastructure as code, Linux, automation, CI/CD, containers, platform operations, and DevOps practices. You will initially work with close support and guidance. As your experience grows, you will take greater ownership of engineering tasks, technical problem-solving, customer communication, and project delivery. Your progression at Appvia The academy is designed to give you strong technical foundations while allowing your career to develop around your interests and strengths. Your progression could take you towards: AWS platform engineering Cloud infrastructure and automation DevOps and CI/CD engineering Site reliability and platform operations Cloud architecture Security engineering Software engineering Data and AI platform engineering Technical consulting and customer leadership You will have regular development conversations, access to experienced mentors, and opportunities to take on increasingly complex work as your capability grows. Interview process Our process is designed to understand how you think, learn, communicate, and approach technical problems. We are not expecting graduates to have years of commercial experience. Screening and discovery conversation - An initial conversation with our Talent Acquisition team to learn more about you, your interests, and why platform engineering appeals to you. Assessment Day and Appvia meet-and-greet - A collaborative assessment in mid-to-late August involving practical exercises, conversations with Appvia engineers, and an opportunity to learn more about the academy, the project, and our culture. Security clearance The first academy project will support a UK public sector customer. Successful applicants must therefore be eligible to obtain UK Government Security Clearance. Important You must be eligible for SC: British Passport or ILR To have resided in the UK for at least the last 5 years. Have no criminal records. Have no financial irregularities. What you’ll be doing Support the assessment of customer infrastructure, technical requirements, and opportunities for cloud adoption or optimisation Help build, configure, and improve AWS cloud environments and platform services Contribute to cloud migration, implementation, support, and optimisation activities Apply DevOps principles and automation techniques to improve deployment and platform management Assist with infrastructure as code, scripting, CI/CD pipelines, and repeatable engineering processes Investigate technical issues and provide professional, timely support to users and project teams Automate recurring operational tasks and common support issues Build proofs of concept to explore new technologies, approaches, and potential solutions Consider trade-offs between technical, operational, analytical, and customer requirements Help teams improve how they work through DevOps and platform engineering practices Work with the platform team to identify engineering tasks and prioritise the backlog Collaborate with engineers, delivery managers, customer teams, and other technical specialists Document configurations, decisions, troubleshooting steps, and engineering processes Participate in workshops, technical demonstrations, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions Continue developing your understanding of emerging cloud, platform engineering, data, and AI technologies About you We are looking for curious, motivated graduates and early-career engineers who want to build a career in cloud and platform engineering.
