📋 Description
- Abstract comprehensive oncology cases into specialized cancer registry software using pathology
- Apply defensive abstracting and approved editing to ensure accurate submissions to cancer
- Identify and classify new, recurrent, and multiple primary cases using reportable lists and tools.
- Review medical records to code demographics, site, histology, stage, and treatment.
- Follow oncology coding standards (AJCC TNM, ICD-O, SEER, SSDI) and reference materials.
- Update treatment information and conduct longitudinal follow-up to maintain patient histories.
🎯 Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; current Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification or eligibility
- Qualified via an NCRA-accredited Associate Degree in Cancer Registry Management or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of CoC standards, registry reporting, and RCRS guidelines.
- Understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, oncology data abstraction, and registry
- Experience using data systems, data entry, analysis, and reporting; proficiency with Microsoft
- Excellent verbal/written communication; strong analytical, judgment, and independent work skills.
