Summer 2027 AI Applied Research Internship

📋 Description

• Translate operational processes into modeling problems and justify approach.
• Build simulations or optimization models for fleet construction problems.
• Evaluate models and move toward deployed decision systems.
• Collaborate with nuclear industry experts to deliver practical solutions.
• Assist with production path: serving, monitoring, updates of models.
• On-site Washington DC internship for 12 weeks (May–August).

🎯 Requirements

• MS or PhD in CS, ML, OR, applied math, economics, or statistics; return to program after fellowship.
• Production-quality Python and PyTorch; solid ML fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience with RL, optimization, simulation, or forecasting.
• Ability to formulate real processes as MDPs or optimization models.
• Strong experimental design with reproducible code.
• Willingness to work on-site in Washington DC, five days a week.
